LIMITED                                  OPEN                               PRODUCTION

I hear from my stats department that there is an issue with USPSA uploading tonight and he can’t get the results up on their site. Number one, who cares our site is better anyway. Number two, they will get it resolved on Monday and get it squared away. In the mean time you can check them out here.

I have a bunch to say and even  a bunch more of people to thank but just rolled in to the crib from the match and am a bit smoked. I have a superfluous amount of video and pictures that I will work on tomorrow. For now I’m going to fix a rum and go to bed. Thanks all, watch the site this week.

Here is a little taste of things to come.

Sunday Shooter Info

  • October 30, 2010 10:20 pm

Howdy Monster fans. In efforts to keep things moving as smoothly as possible on Sunday we have adjusted where the squads are starting. I know I told some folks differently today and apologize but it shouldn’t be too big of a deal.

10                              1
11                              3
12                              4

Day one done

  • October 29, 2010 10:34 pm

Staff day along with a couple shooters is in the books. All went pretty well and I think most stages were a hit. There is still room for walk ups on Sunday if you’re feeling jealous. Thanks to all that have supported and helped out to get us underway.

Some video of the action today to wet the whistle. Keep an eye on the website this weekend and next week, I’ll have a ton of multi-media coming your way. Have a safe weekend and watch out for Zombies

Details, details

  • October 26, 2010 7:30 am

Registration will be open at 7:30am Friday morning. Our plan is to be registered and geared up by 8:00am. We will have the RO brief at 8:00am and begin shooting immediately after. We will shoot 4 stages or until 12:30 then break for lunch. I will be ordering Pizza for lunch it will be available for $5 for paid shooters and will be free of charge for STAFF and RO’s. We will also have bottled water on the stages provided for everyone. Scores and shooter information will be posted at the end of the day you are responsible for checking your information and scores for any errors.

Registration opens at 7am both days as listed on the squad schedule. Please be there in time to get registered and be on the stage ready to shoot by 8am. Obviously that means you cannot show up to register at 7:54am. There is no shooter meeting as I think they are a waste of time. Shooters meeting is below. First stage walk through and brief will begin at 8am. We’ll shoot four stages then break for catered lunch around noon. They are doing BBQ, burgers, dogs and such for a reasonable price. Please support the vendors if you can. Thanks. This is a trophy match and we will be mailing out the trophies so there will not be an official awards ceremony. If the division winners are present on Sunday after the match we will do their presentations as I do have a little somethin somethin for them. Due to the one day schedule however that will keep Friday or Saturday shooters from having to come back. We will post winners on the website and promptly mail out plaques. Shooter information and scores will be posted after each day of shooting, you are responsible for checking your information for errors.

One of the cool things about running a match is you can run it how you see fit. I think shooters meetings are a waste of time so we won’t be doing an official one. This will serve as your shooters meeting.

Welcome to The Monster Match 2010. We have eight stages of awesomeness for your shooting pleasure. This is a USPSA Recognized match and all USPSA safety rules are in effect. We will be using the January 2008 rule book with approved amendments through July 2010. This is a cold range and safe tables are provided for your use. There should be no handling of firearms other than at a safe table or under the supervision of a Monster Match RO. Please be courteous to your fellow shooters by helping to tape and reset the stage. More importantly, ensure the target has been scored prior to taping it. Any re-shoots at this match are particularly costly in terms of time and ammo. Also please be courteous to your RO’s and thank them for their service. It is folks like this that make the sport possible for us to enjoy. There are procedures in place for the shooter should you disagree with a call made by the RO. If you have any problems ask for the Range Master or Match Director.

Perhaps most importantly, thank you for supporting The Monster Match. As I said we couldn’t have a match without the RO’s, we certainly couldn’t have a match without YOU the customer either. Thank you for coming and I hope you enjoy the event we have built for you. If you have any questions, comments, problems please bring them to my attention and I will take care of it. Have a safe and fun Monster Match. – Shannon

Range Master – Jim Schoonmaker

Lotsa info today

Wow!! What a weekend. I was in Frostproof Friday through Sunday building The Monster Match. I can’t thank the volunteers that gave up one or more of their weekend days to help enough. One of the reasons The Monster Match hasn’t been an annual event is the fact that it is a TON of work. Not that I really mind doing it, it’s kinda fun….but it is still a TON of work. That usually results in me swearing off doing another one for a couple years until I forget how much work it was. I decided to do it this year knowing my fall match schedule was crazy and I would have basically one week to put the whole Monster Match together. I asked my friends for help and they delivered big time.

Special thank you to: Rick / Bobby / Lou / Bing Bong / Brad / John / Jim / Sandro / Jason / Eric / Don / Dan / Terrisa / Sasha / Charles / Keith / Andy / Andy / Jim / James / Ronnie / Dave / Manny

I cannot stress enough that the match flat out would not happen if it weren’t for the help of these folks. When you see them please buy them a beer or coke or dinner or something. It is folks like this that make the sport possible. Thank you guys and gals!!! I sincerely appreciate your help.

If you are a serious stage analyzer you will notice that a few stages had some subtle changes to better reflect what is on the ground. Stages 3, 4, and 8. If you are the type to print them out to have on the range you will want to reprint those three.

You will also notice I chose not to publish the final stage this morning. I am providing a couple strong hints however. You have to see this on the ground…’s pretty cool. If you aren’t signed up we still have room on Sunday.

Some other pictures from this weekend. Stages look great, special thanks to Art Director Terrisa!

Keep an eye on the website this week for match updates and information!!

Schedule and maps

Squad Schedule

This info is also on the General Match Info page.

We will be out on the range this coming weekend for the main build. If anyone is local and wants to come out let me know and can put you to work.

Only a few days left….get your buddies to sign up. Saturday is pretty much full but we will be taking match day sign ups for Sunday assuming we don’t fill by then.

Zombies are coming…..are you ready?

Two Weeks Out!!!

  • October 18, 2010 8:08 pm

Hey folks, back from Vegas and the Nationals and ready for two hectic weeks as we countdown to The Monster Match. I’m happy with the way the match is coming together and I think it will be one that nobody wants to miss. I had a lot of interest talking with folks at the Nationals so hopefully we’ll get some of them to come on down.

A little late today but the promised stage is posted on the Stages page.

Coming this week will be the schedule, range map and some other final info. If any of you are loal and bored this coming weekend we will be doing the main match build and could probably use some help. Let me know if you are interested in coming out so I can plan for the man (or woman) power. I don’t want folks standing around wasting their time and I plan to have a plan together.

As mentioned this year will be a trophy only match but we decided to do a little something different for the overall division winners. Limited, Open, Production. I think it is unique and the coolest trophy I’ve seen in 10 years of shooting. A little teaser.

Hi Monster fans,

I’m in Vegas at Nationals so quick post today. Your new stage is posted and the match is otherwise is coming along great. Get signed up soon!!

Good morning Monster enthusiasts. We have a new stage for your viewing pleasure.

As I mentioned last week I had a total hard drive crash and lost all of my old emails. I had a couple requests in there for division changes and the like that I don’t remember. If you had any email request in with me and you haven’t heard back please re-send your email. Anything like divisions changes are not a big deal and worse case we can handle it on match day.

We have about 140 competitors as of this morning. Give all your procrastinating friends like me a reminder that Match Directors love folks to sign up as early as possible. Hint, hint. Thanks for keeping the word out there for the match. We hope to put on a good show for everybody.

TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY FOR PRE-ORDER OF TEE SHIRTS, MUGS, AND MOUSE PADS. We’ll have a few extra available for purchase on match day but I’m not ordering a bunch extra so if you want one please register today or tomorrow to be sure and get your size. I will be placing the order this week for tee shirts.

I am leaving for the USPSA Nationals this Thursday and will have limited computer access for the duration of the nationals. I will still receive emails and will respond asap, but if I’m a day or two getting back to you you’ll know why. You can also reach Jim the Co-Match Director on the contacts page.

4 Weeks Out………. Are You Prepared?
