After collapsing the squads we ended up with one less squad on Saturday. Take a look at the matrix, everyone starts at the same time now and there is no break.

Squad Lists – Final squad list will be posted at the range. We don’t plan on shuffling anyone without talking to them first but be sure and double check what squad you are on when you get there to register.

Since nobody goes to shooters meetings anymore myself included I don’t have one at The Monster Match. This will serve as your shooters meeting for Saturday and Sunday shooters this coming weekend.

RO’s – This match isn’t possible without the help of the RO’s and staff. Please thank them when you see them. They are out here busting their butts for your enjoyment.

Schedule – As this is your shooters meeting, please get registered in time and be at your assigned stage ready to shoot at 0800 on your shooting day. We have a ton of shooting and a ton of pasting/resetting to do. Please help out resetting the stages, that is part of your duty as a competitor. In order to stay on schedule everyone has to pitch in. Follow the directions of your RO’s and please don’t paste ahead of the scoring RO. Final, official squad list and schedule will be posted here on Friday.

Safety – USPSA rules including safety rules are in effect. Safe tables will be available for your use. Do not handle firearms or ‘gun up’ at your car please, that is a DQ’able action.

Costume Safety – I know some of the costumes are incorporating fake or toy firearms. That is fine but lets leave them in holster or slung or whatever. I don’t want to see firearms pointing around fake or not. If your costume is incorporating a real firearm that’s cool too but it will definitely stay in the holster. I will be the final authority on the cool / uncoolness of that stuff so ask me if you have a question.

Registration – Opens 0700 each day with shooting starting promptly at 0800. Please be there in time to get registered and ready to shoot so we can start on schedule. If everyone waits until 0745 then we obviously can’t get 100 people registered by 0800.

Awards – We will have a short and sweet awards ceremony Sunday after the match. I will be awarding the Division winners only. Class and category winners will have plaques mailed out within the week.

Raffle – Drawing will be Sunday after the award ceremony. Info on the raffle in next post.

Squad Schedule – Please watch the website regarding squadding. There are currently some squads that are light on people, those squads will be combined before match day. Obviously we aren’t going to have a 3 person squad so pay attention to coming squad changes.

Costume Contest Official Rules

  • “USPSA shooter” will not be considered an official costume
  • You must shoot the entire match in costume
  • RO’s and Staff are the judges
  • RO’s and Staff ARE eligible for the contest They must shoot in costume as well
  • Prize is 1000 rounds of 9mm or .40 Universal Ammo

Howdy Monster fans. In efforts to keep things moving as smoothly as possible on Sunday we have adjusted where the squads are starting. I know I told some folks differently today and apologize but it shouldn’t be too big of a deal.

Wow!! What a weekend. I was in Frostproof Friday through Sunday building The Monster Match. I can’t thank the volunteers that gave up one or more of their weekend days to help enough. One of the reasons The Monster Match hasn’t been an annual event is the fact that it is a TON of work. Not that I really mind doing it, it’s kinda fun….but it is still a TON of work. That usually results in me swearing off doing another one for a couple years until I forget how much work it was. I decided to do it this year knowing my fall match schedule was crazy and I would have basically one week to put the whole Monster Match together. I asked my friends for help and they delivered big time.

Special thank you to: Rick / Bobby / Lou / Bing Bong / Brad / John / Jim / Sandro / Jason / Eric / Don / Dan / Terrisa / Sasha / Charles / Keith / Andy / Andy / Jim / James / Ronnie / Dave / Manny

I cannot stress enough that the match flat out would not happen if it weren’t for the help of these folks. When you see them please buy them a beer or coke or dinner or something. It is folks like this that make the sport possible. Thank you guys and gals!!! I sincerely appreciate your help.

If you are a serious stage analyzer you will notice that a few stages had some subtle changes to better reflect what is on the ground. Stages 3, 4, and 8. If you are the type to print them out to have on the range you will want to reprint those three.

You will also notice I chose not to publish the final stage this morning. I am providing a couple strong hints however. You have to see this on the ground…’s pretty cool. If you aren’t signed up we still have room on Sunday.

Good morning Monster enthusiasts. We have a new stage for your viewing pleasure.

As I mentioned last week I had a total hard drive crash and lost all of my old emails. I had a couple requests in there for division changes and the like that I don’t remember. If you had any email request in with me and you haven’t heard back please re-send your email. Anything like divisions changes are not a big deal and worse case we can handle it on match day.

We have about 140 competitors as of this morning. Give all your procrastinating friends like me a reminder that Match Directors love folks to sign up as early as possible. Hint, hint. Thanks for keeping the word out there for the match. We hope to put on a good show for everybody.

TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY FOR PRE-ORDER OF TEE SHIRTS, MUGS, AND MOUSE PADS. We’ll have a few extra available for purchase on match day but I’m not ordering a bunch extra so if you want one please register today or tomorrow to be sure and get your size. I will be placing the order this week for tee shirts.

I am leaving for the USPSA Nationals this Thursday and will have limited computer access for the duration of the nationals. I will still receive emails and will respond asap, but if I’m a day or two getting back to you you’ll know why. You can also reach Jim the Co-Match Director on the contacts page.

Quick update. We’re over 100 for the match so far. Pretty good but continue to spread the word for me please.

Should have shooting times posted by the end of next week. I’m off to the FL State Match this weekend, hopefully you are too. I’ll be RO’ing the weekend, be sure and say hi.
