Thanks, Thanks, and Thanks and Stuff

  • November 7, 2013 10:35 am

Thanks to everyone involved in another successful The Monster Match! We had more shooters than last year. I think this year was the biggest match yet. Thank you shooters for coming out, I hope everyone enjoyed the match!

Thanks to my staff as well! Many of them have been with me for a long time. The Monster Match is the most fun match to work all year in my opinion. Sorta like a big weekend long party! I would like to especially thank the following for coming out the week prior and helping to set up. Andy, Jim, Duane, Jordan, Dave, Bruce, Dan, Terrisa, Lauren, Dan, Rick, Joel, Don, Kristen, Cassie and Mark!

Unfortunately with the World Shoot and US IPSC Nationals being later next year there will like not be a 2014 Monster Match. :( However we will be back stronger than ever in 2015! We are thinking about a bonus point structure for shooting in costume! Let me know what you think about that.

I didn’t get quite as much multi-media this year as I have in the past but with facebook, twitter, and everyone else there is plenty going around. I’m putting a few videos up today.

Results are up on USPSA, thanks again and I’ll see you at another match here at USA!!

Shooters Briefing

  • October 30, 2013 10:10 pm

COLD RANGE- Firearms will not be handled anywhere on the range except in designated safety areas or under the direct supervision of staff Range Officer. Safe areas are clearly marked. Handling firearms in parking areas is deemed unsafe gun handling and will result in a DQ.

SAFETY AREAS- Safety areas are located around the range to unbag and holster or unholster and bag guns, and also for dry fire practice and gun repair, etc. No ammunition may be handled in any safe area.

SET STEEL & TAPE TARGETS- Competitors are expected to stay together as a squad and are required to assist in taping targets, setting and painting steel. This is important to maintain efficiency for the match.

SCHEDULING- Competitors must compete for score according to the published match and squad schedule. A competitor who is not present at the scheduled time and date for any stage may not attempt that stage without the prior approval of the Match Director.

INSPECTION- Stage inspection will be allowed as long as that stage is currently empty. Please do not mess with or play with activators, moving targets or moving platforms.

EYE & EAR PROTECTION- All competitors must wear eye and ear protection while on the line. Eye protection is required to be worn by everyone while on the range.

COMPETITOR AGREEMENT- By competing in this event, you attest that you have read, you understand and you agree to comply with the match rules and regulations.

DRAWINGS & DIMENSIONS – Drawings and dimensions of the stage diagrams are approximate and may change due to safety or production considerations. There may be additional no shoots, vision barriers, or other changes. Inspect each stage carefully and listen to the squad briefing.

SHOOTER SERVICES - The Stats officers will be on the range to help with any administrative matters, resolve scoring errors and lost and found.

SPECTATORS - Everyone must wear eye protection while on the range and ear protection is strongly suggested. Climbing on berms is not allowed. Children must be under the direct supervision of a parent. There is a $1.00 fee for spectators, please check in at the main office.

AWARDS – We will have a brief awards ceremony after the competition on Sunday. Those not present will have plaques shipped.

RAFFLE – We will have bitchin firearms and stuff available for raffle, you need not be present to win. Drawing will be during awards.

Couple weeks to go!!

  • October 18, 2013 4:31 pm

Hey gang,

I apologize for not as much information flow as I normally have for matches, the US IPSC Nationals has been consuming me for the last month. I’m out in Tulsa for Production Nationals now and will have much more info coming this next week. Stages are conceptualized and will be going on the ground this next week. I think there will be some never before seen things going on this year….Pretty much the norm for The Monster Match.

Schedule, stages, and much much more coming soon!

Registration is OPEN!!

As usual we will be giving trophies and plaques to the winners with a little something special to the divisional winners in Limited, Open, and Production.

Costume contest is ON! Gun to the winner!

Much more info to follow…..hope you can make it!!

Tough Mudder in Town

  • July 17, 2013 9:05 am

I just learned the Tough Mudder is in town the same weekend. It is an adventure type race and will be hosted just down the road from the range, they are expecting close to 10,000 people. If you are going to need a hotel for the match I would book it now. We aren’t doing a match hotel but the HI Express or Hampton in Lake Wales will give preferred rates if you mention Universal Shooting Academy.
